DANVILLE, Ky. - March 10, 2003 - Brian Cunningham will complete a strong driver line up for J3 Racing at the Mobile 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on March 15. Cunningham will join Justin Jackson and David Murray in the team's Porsche GT3 RS. Cunningham was also to drive for J3 Racing at the inaugural Grand Prix of Mexico prior to the cancellation of the race.
"I'm happy to be back in a Porsche and especially with the guys at J3. I've driven with David before in a BMW and am looking forward to getting back in a car with him. We're expecting good results at Sebring with support from Michelin, Porsche Motorsport and a strong driver lineup. I'm excited to be involved with a solid team like J3 Racing," said Cunningham.
"The team has put in a lot of work in during the off season and we are looking for good things from the team and the drivers. We now have Michelin tires and a strong, fast driver line up; we will be at the front," said team owner Jaye Jackson.
The Cunningham name has a deep history at Sebring starting with Cunningham's grandfather, famed sports car racer Briggs Cunningham winning the Twelve Hours of Sebring in 1953, 1954 and 1955. He was the first team owner to win three years in a row. He won as a driver in '53 with his own Cunningham C4R racing machine. As a result of his wins, "Cunningham Corner" was named after him and his participation at Sebring in its early days.
Brian Cunningham had a successful 2002 season in the American Le Mans Series with six starts including five podiums and one win.
Founded in 1998, J3 Racing has participated in the Speed World Challenge, Grand American as well as the American Le Mans Series. J3 is a joint venture of driver Justin and his father, Jaye Jackson. The team is based out of Suwanee, Ga.
