Darren Law Set to Tackle ALMS Sebring Season Opener With Flying Lizards
The 55th running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring is just around the corner, and Porsche endurance race driver Darren Law is prepared for the grueling sun up to sundown test of man and machine. Law of Phoenix, Arizona will be joining the Flying Lizard Motorsports squad again this year in the team's immaculately prepared #44 Flying Lizard Porsche GT3RSR with teammates Seth Neiman of San Francisco, California and Lonnie Pechnik of Mt. View, California. The scheduled March 17th Sebring event is the season opener for the twelve race 2007 American Le Mans Series schedule, and Law is slated to join the Lizards for at least eight of those rounds.
Race Within a Race
The week leading up to the Saturday start of the race will be hectic and grueling in its own right, as the ALMS schedule allows for an entire week of testing beginning on Monday. Teams and drivers will be working hard all week to make sure that the cars have good race and qualifying set ups, and to ensure that the machines will stand the test of the abusive race surface and the seemingly endless number of laps that will be covered over the twelve hour race.
Taking the Next Step
Law, who has been preparing for a busy 2007 race schedule is no stranger to the demands of the longer endurance races, and in fact had a strong showing at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in early February. Law will be looking to capitalize on the hard work the team has put into its new GT3RSRs over the winter. Darren is hopeful that he can help the #44 Flying Lizard Porsche take a step up on the podium, a position that the Neiman, Pechnik, Law trio narrowly missed in 06 with a hard fought fourth.
"I'm really happy to be back with the Flying Lizard guys again this year. They have a great team, and I'm hoping that we can do well at Sebring and through the rest of 2007. We've already done some testing over the winter, and the new GT3RSR is a pretty strong package. We'll need to really be on our game to take the fight to the Ferraris and the Panoz."
