Ahead of the DBR9's debut race this forthcoming weekend, the team today commenced their testing programme with two practice sessions prior to Thursday's qualifying rounds.
Team Principal Insight
"As the build-up to Saturday's race continues, today marked a crucial point in our preparations with the first opportunity to get the complete driver line-up together and conduct some initial testing on the Sebring circuit ahead of qualifying.
"Some minor issues were highlighted during the IMSA Technical Inspection yesterday (Sunday), which is to be expected with a totally new car, but we are satisfied this will be fully resolved by Wednesday.
"Whilst not necessarily indicative of our performance in the race, we achieved some encouraging lap times towards the end of the sessions which provide a valuable benchmark for the week ahead." George Howard-Chappell
"After such anticipation its great to finally be here at Sebring with the DBR9. It's still
very early days, but the car is shaping up well for qualifying on Thursday"
"We've made a few changes to the setup since our test here at Sebring earlier in the
year, but today has been invaluable. Now both the team and myself have a better
idea of what we need to do"
"Its great to finally have the team together on the track. Now we need to work
together on the small details step by step during the practice sessions as the week
progresses and ensure we are well prepared for the race."
"Today we've been concentrating on the setup and acquired some valuable data in
very hot conditions. We have some challenges to overcome ahead of the race."
"We still have much work to do, but we have improved over the day and our lap times
towards the end of the afternoon session show we are making good progress"
"Obviously I've had less time in the car compared to the other drivers so this is
largely new to me, it's a familiarisation process and I'm learning all the time. We have
a great team in place and I'm looking forward to spending more time in the car over
the course of the week."
