Robertson Racing qualifying report

Sebring 12 Hours

Robertson Racing geared up for Sebring

American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron GT class outfit Robertson Racing had hoped for more from today's qualifying session for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh, with 12th and 13th respectively for the 004 and 040 cars falling short of their expectations heading into the event.

Nevertheless with 12 hours of racing ahead of them tomorrow, the team remains upbeat about their prospects at the Florida track as they seek to profit from the reliability of their Ford GT machines.

The Braselton-based squad worked tirelessly throughout Thursday's practice sessions to optimise the setup for each of their racers, eventually electing for a bold all-or-nothing approach to qualifying with the #004 car.

However their hopes were dashed after Anthony Lazzaro lost a potentially fast lap to a rival car slowing in front of him, spoiling his effort, and struggled with oversteer thereafter. He will be joined by David Murry and Colin Braun in the #004 machine, which registered a best time of 2:03.309.

Team Manager Andrew 'H' Smith: "We came here with high hopes after the winter and it didn't work out for us in qualifying. A lot of effort has gone into this weekend and we are not where we thought we might be.

"But the race is long and you don't have to be the fastest to get a result. Our reliability is good and if we have overcome our teething problems before the race anything is possible."

Anthony Lazzaro: "I aborted an average lap as I caught the Jaguar and created a good amount of space for the following lap. Unfortunately on the next lap, the #48 car had slowed and killed that effort too, so we lost a couple of laps to traffic. Now we have one more session before the race so we need to keep working hard on the setup."
