Official Practice Days ends with rain, but Zytek continues to improve

Wednesday proved to be another good day for Zytek, as the team improved their position and the drivers get comfortable with the car and the track. The weather provided the most challenges as rain hit two of the three practice sessions.

The first session was dry and all three drivers went out. Stefan Johansson set Zytek's fastest time of the session with a time of 1:13.54 good for 6th place. Johnny Mowlem and Haruki Kurosawa then added laps and brought their times down closer to Stefan. Set-up was a big improvement and now it is a matter of fine tuning to get ready for qualifying on Friday.

The second session was started in dry conditions, but rain was in the air. Haruki went out first and on the warm dry track he turned a lap of 1:12.998, which was good for second fastest overall time of the session. Johnny and Stefan got a few laps in and then the rain started and with lightning in the air the Officials called the session early. Haruki was very happy with his time and the team saw continued improvement in all areas. By the third practice, the night session, the rain had stopped but the track was very wet with a lot of standing water. The team decided to wait for the track to improve and by an hour into the session, Johnny headed out to complete his mandatory night laps, followed by Haruki and Stefan. The team then decided to call it a day, as improved forecast for the following days did not require running in laps in the wet.

Altogether Day 2 proved to be a solid day with improvements all round as the team prepares for Qualifying on Friday.
