BERNHARD TOPS ALMS PETIT LE MANS GT2 QUALIFYING; POINTS RIVAL LONG IS THIRD AS PORSCHE TAKE FIRST FIVE GRID SPOTS FOR SATURDAY'S RACE

BRASELTON, Georgia - September 30 - Alex Job Porsche 911 GT3 RSR driver Timo Bernhard has cast the first stone in what promises to be a weekend-long battle between his car and the Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Porsche as he captured the GT2 pole for tomorrow's Petit Le Mans event at Road Atlanta.

Bernhard, the defending ALMS GT2 champion, said the team was pleased with the pole because it confirmed the set-up theories they had worked on since Wednesday.

"The crew has worked hard at our set-up for the weekend, and it has been easier for us because we only have two drivers for set-up input, not three like the others. The weather should be cool tomorrow, and we should be able to complete the event successfully with just the two of us," said Bernhard, who shares the seat with Frenchman Romain Dumas.

Second of the grid is the BAM! Porsche qualified by Mike Rockenfeller, who will co-drive with Wolf Henzler and Martin Jensen, while the Patrick Long/Jorg Bergmeister/Craig Stanton Petersen Motorsports/White Lightrning Porsche - 12 points ahead of Bernhard/Dumas in the points standings - is third for tomorrow's race.

The eighth running of Petit Le Mans will commence on Saturday, October 1 at 11:20 AM EDT, with live television coverage starting at 11:00 AM EDT on the SPEED Channel. SPEED will provide liver coverage until 5:30 PM EDT, and then pick up the race at 7:30 PM EDT and run it until the end. The race will last 1,000 miles or ten hours, whichever comes first (the average duration of the race in the past has been nine hours and 25 minutes). The race will be broadcast live on American Le Mans Radio, found on the web at www.americanlemans.com.
