American Le Mans Series:

Goodyear-equipped cars filled two of the first four finishing positions and had four cars in the first nine as the Series competed in the Chevy Grand Prix of Atlanta at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga.

No tiremaker could boast of more class victories than Goodyear, as the Ohio-based manufacturer supplied winners of two classes.

The Goodyear-shod LMP 675 prototype car driven by James Weaver and Butch Leitzinger started on the overall pole after rain washed out qualifying. The Dyson Racing Lola MG was credited with the fastest lap in practice and thus became the first 675-class car to start at the front of the field.

Defending LMP 675 champion Jon Field and teammate Duncan Dayton, long-time Goodyear competitors, co-drove their Lola MG to third place overall and won the 675 class victory in the two hour, 45 minute race. The Dyson car finished fourth overall and second in class after leading the race for the first six laps.

The Corvette Racing duo of Oliver Gavin and Kelly Collins won the GTS class and finished seventh overall. A second Corvette, driven by Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell, finished third in class and ninth overall.

The results leave Goodyear undefeated in both LMP 675 and GTS class racing this season. Goodyear cars won the same classes in the only other ALMS race this year, the 12 Hours of Sebring.
