BRYAN SELLERS AT HOME TRACK FOR THE 13TH ANNUAL PETIT LE MANS
Braselton, GA -- October, 2 Bryan Sellers has been preparing for the 10-hour or 1000-mile long 13th Annual Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda 2 all season, and he has one advantage that many drivers covet: Road Atlanta is Sellers' home track.
Sellers calls Braselton, Georgia home, and is very familiar with the 2.54-mile, 12-turn road course. "I love the track at Road Atlanta. I've been lucky enough to drive it both as an instructor and as a racer, and every lap is an opportunity for me to learn something new," remarks Sellers.
This weekend Sellers will be taking to the track as a driver for Team Falken Tire, piloting their #17 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR entry. For Sellers, the significance of this final race in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patr0x00f3n is not lost amidst the weeklong preparations. "Petit Le Mans is such a huge race! By performing well here, it can help set up your following season." And as Sellers explains, there is another reason the 13th Annual Petit Le Mans is such an important race to all the competitors. "With a win at Petit, you have an automatic invitation to Le Mans."
Sellers is no stranger to the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in Le Mans, France. Sellers drove the rigorous race in 2005 with the American Le Mans Series, piloting the Panoz Esperante GTLM in the GT2 Class. And Sellers would love the opportunity to take the Team Falken Tire Porsche around the 8.469-mile long Circuit de la Sarthe.
Team Falken tire has had a remarkable season thus far, continuing their tire development and performance progression. "This is the culmination of everything we have worked for all season," says Sellers. "Falken has really pushed hard to give us the best possible tire they can build for this race. We have multiple sets of tires to try to help give us as large of an advantage as possible."
The tires are proving to be fast and strong already. Sellers qualified the #17 Team Falken Tire Porsche on Friday afternoon, with a fast lap of 1:21.560, giving the team a P-11 starting position for the race.
The green flag will fly at Road Atlanta on the 13th Annual Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda 2 today at 11:30am EDT.
