Aston Martin DBR9s Qualify Third & Fourth at Petit Le Mans

Aston Martin Racing will start the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on Saturday 20 September from third and fourth positions in the GT1 grid.

Pedro Lamy qualified the number 009 DBR9 in third with a time of 1:18.547. Darren Turner qualified the number 007 DBR9 three tenths behind in fourth place with a time of 1:18.857.

The team were greeted with bright sunshine at the track Friday morning, in stark contrast to the torrential rain and thunderstorms that persisted on Thursday, cutting the afternoon test session short and hampering testing during the night practice session.

Both cars completed a one-hour morning practice session prior to this afternoon's qualifying session and the team are happy with the race set up they have selected for Saturday's 10-hour or 1,000-mile race.

George Howard-Chappell, Team Principal, Aston Martin Racing:

"We are slightly disappointed to be third and fourth, however we are very close to the opposition and we have good pace. We didn't want to drive around for the whole session and use up our first set of race tyres trying to get good qualifying positions because, being a 1,000-mile race, qualifying is not quite as important as the shorter races. We are looking forward to the race and are optimistic we will be able to achieve a good result."
