Muscle Milk Team CytoSport back on track

Klaus on track at Road America Elkhart Lake, WI (August 20, 2010) - All eyes were turned towards Muscle Milk Team CytoSport today during the test session at Road America as the team returned to the track for the first time since a massive testing crash sidelined them at the previous race at Mid-Ohio two weeks ago.

The team picked up right where they had left off and set the pace early on before ending their trouble free test session second fastest for the day.

Klaus Graf may have had the honors of turning the first laps aboard the team's 'new' Porsche RS Spyder, but his teammate for this weekend, Timo Bernhard, turned the quickest lap of the day in the closing minute of the one hour and 30 minute session.

Returning behind the wheel of the Porsche RS Spyder for the first time since 2008, Bernhard registered a lap time of one minute 53.865, gaining nearly three tenths of a second on his previous lap.

Timo and Greg with engineer Brandon Fry On site to watch the team debut its 'new' car, was team owner and driver Greg Pickett who was forced out of the Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder due to injuries suffered in the Mid-Ohio crash. Only two weeks following what Pickett qualified as the worst accident of his career, he says he is doing great and is working hard on his comeback.

Muscle Milk Team CytoSport and drivers Graf and Bernhard will return to the track in the morning for the first official practice session at 11:15 a.m. ET. Another one-hour practice will take place from 3:00 p.m. ET ahead of qualifying at 4:40 p.m. ET.

The American Le Mans Series - powered by eStar race at Road America will see the green flag on Sunday, August 22 at 3:05 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on SPEED starting at 3:00 p.m. ET.

What they had to say:

Greg Pickett, owner/driver, #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder
"This is a great testament to the team to come out here and be right there with no problems, no little niggling things, that's a huge compliment and statement to the team. I'm very proud of Muscle Milk Team CytoSport.

"As for me, I've made good progress as far as the pain is concerned in the last week or so. I'm much more comfortable. I'm not going to need surgery for my vertebrae. It's going to heal up fine but the ribs are going to take a little bit of time.

"I went from not confident at all about running at Petit Le Mans to being cautiously optimistic, which I'm really excited about.

"Finally, I just want to say how great it is to have Timo with us. He's a really nice guy and not only is he rocket quick, his feedback is exceptional. He's so professional and a delightful young man. It's a pleasure to be working with him and we enjoy having him here. It's going to be fun to watch them over the rest of the weekend."

Timo Bernhard, driver #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder
"The first lap was very special. To be back in my old 'home office', brought back a lot of memories. The car is very nice to drive but for the first couple of laps I had to familiarize myself with the Porsche RS Spyder again. Towards the end of the session I really felt great again in the car.

"By my first outing already we started to work on the setup, and I think we are right in the window. There are still some things to work on but so far it looks promising. I'm very happy."

Klaus Graf, Qualifying Driver #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder
"A big, big compliment to the guys, they did a heck of a job building and preparing the Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder. We fired it right up and it ran without any problems. That's a testimony to the team but also to the Porsche engineering. Everything fit right on, there was no trouble building it back up and that obviously makes the job for the guys a lot easier.

"We're happy with the car, I think we were in the ballpark right away. The track will change a lot, the weather as well so in these sessions it's always hard to judge but we were right there.

"It's great to have Timo here, he was competitive right away, as we all expected. It should be a good weekend, I look forward to it."
