J3 Racing Finishes Fifth in GT at Road America

Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin - J3 Racing finished in a strong fifth place today at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin for round seven of the American Le Mans Series race.

Jackson and Sugden qualified their number 79/J3 Motorsport/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, in ninth place with a time of 2:09.683 and a speed of 112 mph.

Coming off a ninth place finish last year at Road America, J3 Racing delivered their second best result of the year. Justin Jackson started the car from the back of the grid following an engine change. "I had a pretty conservative start. I was back on the grid and I wanted to make sure that there was a car to hand over to Tim," said the Georgia based driver Jackson. By lap 54, Justin was able to move up to sixth place before the first round of pit stops. "Overall I thought the car was just a little off in handling, so I wasn't able to be really aggressive. Fifth is a good finish for us going into our home race."

Leeds, England driver Tim Sugden took over on lap 63. "When I got into the car it had a little bit of understeer, but after a few laps I got used to it and adjusted my driving style. I was getting ready to pit when the safety car came out, we thought it would help but effectively we ended up losing a lap. Toward the end I was having a nice battle with Long in the number 66 car for fourth place, but ran out of laps.

The next race will be held in J3's back yard at Road Atlanta on September 25th, the 1,000 mile, 10-hour, Petit Le Mans.
