J3 Racing Finishes Ninth at Road America
Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin -- J3 Racing finished ninth today in round eight of the American Le Mans Series race at Road America.
In qualifying yesterday, Tim Sugden drove the number 79/J3 Racing/Porsche 911 RSR to an eighth place starting position for today's Generac 500. b^0x001cWe qualified with about what we thought we could run. The car is struggling for grip so it is hard to keep up with the GT2 front runners.JWe have a solid car and team so we are hoping for good things in the race."
Justin Jackson started the car from the fourth row in GT2. On lap ten a P2 cars suffered an engine failure and oiled the track from turn one to turn five. Jackson had to navigate the slick surface and was able to stay the course and keep the 911 on the track."The P2 car really slicked the track," said Jackson. "There was no caution flag, so I just had drive through it. The car was pretty good. We made a slight change this morning and I think I liked the car better yesterday. We were getting pulled down the straight by six car lengths which is tough to give-up at this long track."
Tim Sugden took over from Jackson and could not get a brake with the caution flags. "We seemed to be in the wrong place on the track every time the yellows flew sending us a lap down. I couldn't believe our bad luck. Usually those things equal out in the end, but not for us today. The car was a little better than yesterday. It would have been nice to be able to try and make-up some positions on the restarts, but we got down early."
The team will travel to Mosport International Raceway for round nine of the American Le Mans Series to run on September 4th.
