On top of the GT grid.
The Alex Job Racing squad will start first and second on the GT grid at tomorrow's Road America 500 in Elkhart Lake, Wis. Lucas Luhr turned a qualifying lap time of 2:09.124 in the No. 23 Alex Job Racing McKenna/mail2web.com Porsche 911 GT3. Luhr eclipsed his own qualifying lap record he set at the 2002 Road America 500 by three seconds.
Jorg Bergmeister in the No. 24 Alex Job Racing McKenna/mail2web.com Porsche 911 GT3 RS came in an extremely close second with a qualifying lap time of 2:09.493.
Lucas Luhr No. 23 McKenna/mail2web.com Porsche 911 GT3 RS:
"It was a good qualifying, I really pushed myself and my car. When we saw what the Ferrari did during the practice session right before, we knew we had to push it. The Michelin tires were very good. I think I was able to improve my times from last year because I got it together better this year and the conditions were good to get a really clean lap. I really love Road America, it is one of my favorite tracks in the world. There isn't a corner that I don't enjoy driving here."
Jorg Bergmeister No. 24 McKenna/mail2web.com Porsche 911 GT3 RS:
"I have to say that I'm slightly disappointed after qualifying. I really wanted to have more hot laps to be able to beat Lucas in my team car. The car was handling at an optimum and I feel confident that I could have pushed it a little harder, but we just ran out of time. This is a good push for Timo and I and we'll see how the race goes tomorrow."
Alex Job, team owner of Alex Job Racing:
"This really was a good day here at Road America. We put the 23 car on the pole and 24 was second. It was a strong run by Marc Lieb in the Orbit car and the Ferrari, which makes it great fun for us. It looks like there will be a lot of competition and a tough run for the race."
