Portland, Ore. - July 24 - Romain Dumas, from Ales, France, captured his third straight American Le Mans Series GT class pole position in the #24 Alex Job Racing McKenna mail2web.com Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in preparation for tomorrow's Grand Prix of Portland at Portland International Raceway.
Dumas, who has never driven at any of the past three tracks where he has captured the pole - Lime Rock, Infineon Raceway, and Portland - said his qualifying results are gratifying, but he would rather have a win to show for his efforts.
"It has been the same lap - lap#2 of qualifying - that has been my fast qualifying lap at each event, but we are really aiming for a GT win this weekend," said Dumas, who drove to a win with Jorg Bergmeister and Timo Bernhard in the Alex Job Porsche at last year's Petit Le Mans event at Road Atlanta. This year, Dumas is co-driving with Marc Lieb.
Bergmeister put the #23 Alex Job Porsche in second position for himself and co-driver Timo Bernhard, while former teammate Lucas Luhr, who is making a living driving a Porsche in the FIA-GT series in Europe, put the BAM! YES Network Porsche in third position position on the grid. Lucas will co-drive with BAM! regular Leo Hindery.
Fourth is the #44 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche of Lonnie Pechnik/Seth Neiman. while the Petersen/White Lightning Porsche of Craig Stanton/David Murry is fifth. Patrick Long put The Racer's Group Porsche that he co-drives with Cort Wagner in sixth position, while the current GT points leaders Johannes van Overbeek and Darren Law are seventh in the #45 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche.
