London, UK – July 21, 2013 – Mike Conway secures a podium finish in his American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón debut at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Ontario, Canada.

Conway, who is replacing the injured Ryan Briscoe, was not going to make lack of track time and experience slow him down. Driving the No. 552 Siemens/Alpina Watches/Ohiya Casino Resort HPD ARX-03b car for Level 5 Motorsports, Conway posted the fastest lap in the P2 class in the weekend’s first official practice session on Saturday morning. The 29-year-old Englishman then went on to capture the pole for his class with a fast time of 1:08.875 seconds on the 2.459-mile road course.

At the drop of the green flag today, Conway dominated the P2 field, leading the majority of the race and battling with Extreme Speed’s Guy Cosmo. With less than an hour to go, Conway came in for his scheduled stop and relinquished the wheel to team boss Scott Tucker, who unfortunately was unable to maintain the lead towards the latter stages of the race and eventually settled for third in their class.

"I'm very happy with how the weekend has turned out," said Conway. "Despite jumping into the car for the first time on Friday and having never driven the track, it was amazing to then lead all but one of the practice sessions. The car was fast every time and to come away with the pole on my first career attempt is a pretty nice feeling. I thought we could have been even quicker to be honest. I had fun in the race today, managed to move up an overall spot at the beginning and then had a good little battle towards the end of my stint with the Extreme Speed guys, but still maintained the lead for the P2 class. My whole weekend has been a great experience and I need to thank Scott (Tucker) and David (Stone) again for taking a chance and giving me this opportunity and also the whole team for giving me such a great car."

Conway, who is represented by MB Partners, is no stranger to sports car racing. He competes full time in the World Endurance Championship for Delta-ADR, where he picked up a podium finish in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans. He also participates in select IZOD IndyCar Series races where he earned two podium finishes including a win at Detroit earlier this season.
