San Francisco, CA (August 1, 2000) Robert Orcutt, resident of Santa Cruz, California, will drive for the Scient Racing Team as CO-driver to Jennifer Tumminelli and Steve Ariana at the American LeMans Series globemegawheels.com Grand Prix race at Mosport International Raceway (Toronto), Canada. The race is to be held August 6, and will be telecast live on NBC at 2 PM (EST).
Orcutt will drive the #67 Scient sponsored Porsche 911 GT3R in the "GT" category of the ALMS. The team operates out of Sonoma, California under the Racers Group banner, which fields a second (#66 Porsche 911GT3R) entry for Kevin Buckler, in the same GT category.
"I'm very pleased to be involved with the Scient racing team. I've known Jennifer Tumminelli, one of my CO-drivers, for a couple of years now. It is a privilege to be running with such a great team and paired with talented drivers," stated Orcutt.
"Mosport will be a real challenge for us, this is a new team and a new track for us. I look forward to the challenge!" adds Robert Orcutt.
The Scient Racing Team recently debuted at Sears Point in the American Le Mans Series finishing 8th in class and 18th overall (out of 29).
Also new to the Scient team is Tony Dowe, Director of Racing. Mr. Dowe brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise from Formula One, LeMans, IMSA, and Sports Car. He's worked for people such as Carl Haas, TWR, Arrows F1, and as of late the ALMS Dick Barbour Porsche GT team. His duties include overall operation of the race team, race car, crew members, and the drivers.
Orcutt drove in the Paul Revere 250 Grand American Road Racing Series race at Daytona, Florida in June piloting the #67 Scient Porsche 911 GT3R, recording the 4th fastest GT race lap on his way to a 9th place finish in "GT" category and an 18th place overall out of 47.
"I am pleased to have Robert join the Scient Racing Team driver roster for Mosport. He is not only a great driver but he is also a very talented driver coach. A great asset to our team!" stated Tumminelli.
