At 2055, Guy Smith brought the No. 16 Dyson Porsche RS Spyder in for what should be its penultimate pit stop for fuel and tires. Smith will need a splash and go with about 10 minutes left in this 56th running of the 12 Hours of Sebring.

For Andy Lally's entire stint in Dyson's 20 Car, the crew was telling him to conserve fuel. At 2107, Lally hit his pit marks smartly handing the car off to team leader Butch Leitzinger, the driver change made even quicker by the fact that Leitzinger does not use a seat insert. It was the team's quickest pit stop of the day -- full fuel load and Michelin's softest compound.

Lally described his single stint: "We were doing a lot of fuel saving on that run. He came over with about 10 or 12 to go and said, 'Save a lot of fuel.' So I backed the revs down a thousand revs per shift -- you know we're shifting about 11,000 rpm. I brought it down to 10k and, boy, that makes a difference. You see it on the clock. And when you're running down prototypes and passing them and now you've got a couple in your mirrors. It makes it a little worrisome. I didn't know where a couple of them were.

"But these guys (the crew) are thinking hard and we're trying to make this thing work. I don't know. We'll see. It's gonna be real close."

With the No. 7 Penske Porsche perhaps needing to have Romain Dumas conserve fuel and both Adrian Fernandez' Lowe's Acura and the resurgent Audi of Tom Kristensen definitely having to stop for a splash, the No. 20 Dyson Racing RS Spyder is the only race car on the track that can run to the finish.

According to Lally, "Butch is the man for the job." Stay tuned.
