Panoz Esperante GT-LM development continues.
Atlanta, GA. August 13, 2003 After spending the last three rounds of the American Le Mans series getting to know the brand new Panoz Esperante GT-LM, the Hyper Sport racing team is optimistic about the potential of the Georgia bred car. As the rest of the American Le Mans Series teams make their way to Mosport Raceway and Road America, Hyper Sport and Elan Motorsports Technologies, Inc. will be hard at work completing and testing race chassis number two for its debut at Laguna Seca Raceway during the Monterey Sports Car Championship. "As hard as it is to be on the sidelines for the next two rounds, we know that when we compete again in Monterey we will have made huge strides towards putting the Esperante up front," states team partner and driver Brad Nyberg.
Rick Skelton, team partner and driver also explained, "Hyper Sport and Elan are taking a long-term approach to the development of the GT-LM. Building a winning car and team with a high level of reliability is our priority." The first thee ALMS races have allowed the development team at Elan and Hyper Sport the ability to analyze and decide on necessary changes and modifications. Those adjustments are currently being incorporated into the second chassis. Along with an improved drive train, gains are being made in power, weight, and handling. "Joe Foster has really done a fantastic job communicating with the engineers over the last 90 days with regard to the performance of chassis number one. His feedback is the key to many of the changes that are being made currently," added Rick Skelton.
In other news, Hyper Sport has added championship-winning race engineer, Nathan McBride to the team. Nathan brings a wealth of experience and success to the GT-LM development program. He has been a part of stand out programs in Trans Am, Grand Am and ALMS competition.
