Lowe's Fernandez Racing will start sixth overall and fourth in class for Sunday's Mobil 1 Presents Grand Prix of Mosport. Luis Diaz handled qualifying duties but suffered from a bottoming issue aboard the #15 Lowe's Acura ARX. His best lap was seven-tenths of a second shy of LMP2 polesitter Romain Dumas in the #7 Penske Porsche.

Diaz and Adrian Fernandez have been making steady progress in preparation for their second career starts at the ultra-fast and challenging Mosport International Raceway. The pair were fourth-fastest in class in both practice sessions leading up to this afternoon's qualifying [fifth overall in both], and feel confident they have a strong car for the race.

Last year, Fernandez and Diaz were running third overall with 50 minutes remaining when contact dropped the team out of contention. Lowe's Fernandez Racing has claimed three top-five finishes to date this season, and will be looking to better their season-best third-place finish at Mid-Ohio in tomorrow's two-hour and 45-minute event.

Adrian Fernandez, #15 Lowe's Acura ARX: "It has been an okay day but not exactly what we wanted. Our strategy for qualifying didn't work in the way we set up our tires. I think we will be better for the race. This is a long race and a lot of things can happen. I think we have a good race car and, hopefully, this time luck will come our way."

Luis Diaz, #15 Lowe's Acura ARX: "I was hoping for a little bit better grid position than this. The car was hitting more than we would like for qualifying. Also, another P2 car took a little bit from me because he slowed down in front of me on my good lap and maybe that was two-tenths [of a second] there. We still need to keep improving the car to be up there with the others but I think we are decent. We are not great but we are not that bad. For tomorrow, it is going to be a complicated race and we have to be smart. We know that we have a good race car and that's a good thing, but we have to keep working."
