de Ferran and Pagenaud uphold their unrivalled qualifying record; Front row start at Mosport

Bowmanville, On, Canada, Saturday 22 August, 2009: de Ferran Motorsports maintained its matchless qualifying record in this year's American Le Mans Series in round eight of the 2009 championship. Drivers Gil de Ferran and Simon Pagenaud will start tomorrow's (Sunday) Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport from second position on the grid, continuing the team's unbeaten and unrivalled record of front row starting positions.

"As always, the crew has done a fantastic job - the Acura was designed for tracks like this. It's a great thrill to drive such high-speed corners with such a good car," enthused Pagenaud who missed out on a seventh pole position for the No.66 XM Radio de Ferran Motorsports Acura ARX-02a by less than eight hundredths of a second after encountering slower traffic on what should have been his best lap.

"We made some changes to the car and made it even better for qualifying but I got into some traffic and that definitely didn't help," reported the Frenchman.

Having qualified strongly once again, de Ferran and Pagenaud are hoping to make up for last year's disappointment at the historic Mosport International Raceway, the former home of the Canadian Grand Prix. Twelve months ago the pair suffered the cruelest of fates at same venue when running out of fuel while leading in class on the final lap.

"I'm really happy with the set-up of the car and the tires are performing really well. While I'm disappointed not to have the pole, I'm very confident for the race tomorrow," reported Pagenaud.
