Alex Job Racing Takes to the Track in Mosport
Tavares, Florida - Alex Job Racing took to the track yesterday at Mosport in preparation for this weekend's round eight of the American Le Mans Series to be run at Mosport International Raceway on Sunday. Marcel Tiemann handled the prerace testing duties.
The team was able to score a podium finish in the last race at Road America and hopes to better that performance at Mosport on Sunday. Mosport has been a good track for the team from Florida, scoring wins there in 1999, 2000, 2003 and 2004. The 2.5-mile, 10-turn undulating road course located just north of Toronto is the former home of the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Marcel Tiemann enjoyed taking his first laps at the famous Mosport circuit. "I know of the Mosport history and when I studied the layout and from what people told me it lived up to its fast and challenging reputation. The testing miles helped us to find a good set-up for the car that suits the track as well my driving style. I have had a hard time with the 996 RSR. I am used to driving cars with a lot downforce and different weight distribution, so the extra laps have helped me to adapt to the AJR Porsche that much faster, testing miles always help."
Mike Rockenfeller is ready to improve on the team's third place at Road America. "I will be just arriving to the track on Sunday to do the warm-up and the race. Marcel will have the job of set-up, but we should be alright with the data that the team already has from Mosport. We had a good finish at Road America, but we need to get back to the form that the team has had in previous years. A lot of things have gone against us, I want to try and put the season back together in the remaining three races."
"We decided to do some testing in preparation for Mosport," said Alex Job, team owner. "We needed to give Marcel some miles in the car as well as a look at the track from behind the wheel before the competition on the weekend. Mike will be with us on Sunday and we hope we can add to our Mosport record of four wins since 1999."
Rockenfeller is currently seventh in drivers points, 44 out of the lead, with Alex Job Racing fourth in the team standings.
