ACEMCO Motorsports Finishes Third in GTS at Mosport
Bowmanville, Canada - ACEMCO Motorsports finished third in round six of the American Le Mans Series race at Mosport Raceway today. Today's race took place under sunny blue skies, with a temperature of 84 degrees.
Terry Borcheller started the number 63/ACEMCO Motorsports/Saleen S7-R. He drove for forty-four laps running strong in third. "I had a great run today, the car handled great. The Saleen was killer. The team has done a lot of work on the car and the testing we did on Tuesday paid off." When Terry came into the pits for the driver change, refuel and tires he was in third position. Terry returned to Mid-Ohio to complete the Rolex Series race where he was co-driving.
Teammate Johnny Mowlem took over and was able to move the Saleen into second position during the first round of pit stops. Johnny clocked over two hours of drive time. On lap 67 Mowlem had to return to the pits early to change a flat spotted tire. "As I was entering turn five-A, I may have stepped on the brakes too hard and the vibration started. Initially after the tire change the car felt very strange, but I worked through it and the vibration problem stopped." The S7-R was back in the pits on lap 100 for four new tires, the left rear tire had gone flat. "Coming out of turn three I had slight vibration in the car and then it let go. The last set of tires that were put on the car were very consistent. The car felt good. The ACEMCO crew did a great job to fix the problems that we had at Sears Point and Portland. I think we have a reliable package going in to the last three races."
"Johnny had a great stint today, he logged over 80 laps on a very busy track," said owner Jeff Giangrande. "We have had axle issues for the past two races, today they were not an issue. We had no real problems today, that is a huge step forward. We arrived in Mosport early this week for testing and it was a wise investment. We will be doing more testing before the Petit race in Atlanta.
The team will travel to Wisconsin to prepare for round seven to be run at Road America on August 22nd.
