Richard, Pumpelly and TRG Head to Ohio with Points Lead
Petaluma, CA (August 4, 2010)-With only four races remaining in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron, TRG heads to this weekend's Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge with a full head of steam as the most recent winners, as well as points leaders, in the GTC category.
Returning to the no. 63 Freescale/Future Electronics/Green Hills Software/LifeStudio by Hitachi Porsche 911 GT3, driver Henri Richard will be joined for the first time by long-time TRG driver Spencer Pumpelly. Pumpelly, a veteran of ALMS competition and having won with TRG earlier this year at Mid-Ohio, will be making his GTC debut this weekend as season-long driver Andy Lally will be competing in the TRG Motorsports no. 71 Chevrolet Impala SS at this weekend's Watkins Glen round of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
After three near-flawless races in a row, Richard will compete for the first time at the tricky Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, a twisty and complex course located in the rolling hills of Lexington, Ohio.
"I am very excited about this weekend's race in Ohio," stated Richard. "This will be another track I have never seen, but after some time on the simulators and analyzing videos, not to mention fantastic advice from both Spencer and Andy, I will hopefully get up to speed quickly. The guys at TRG have hopefully had some well deserved time off after our last win, and I am convinced that we will deliver another solid performance Saturday."
For Pumpelly, returning to the ALMS is a welcome addition to his 2010 season.
"I'm really looking forward to teaming with Henri this weekend," stated Pumpelly. "The team has been extremely strong all season, and coming off of the most recent win in Lime Rock, I'm hoping we can all keep the momentum headed in to this weekend."
For Team Owner Kevin Buckler, another solid run is the key en route to championship aspirations.
"We of course want another win this weekend, but the most important thing is a solid race with no mistakes," stated Buckler. "The team was flawless in Lime Rock, and we really want to keep that streak headed in to this weekend. We're the points leaders now, and the key to keeping it is going to be with solid, mistake free finishes."
