Alex Job Racing Qualifies Fifth at Mid-Ohio
LEXINGTON, Ohio (Aug. 6, 2010) - Alex Job Racing driver Bill Sweedler, of Westport, Conn., qualified fifth for Saturday's American Le Mans Series (ALMS) presented by Tequila Patron Round Six race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Piloting the No. 23 Battery Tender/Tequila Patron/Alex Job Racing/Porsche 911 GT3, Sweedler's fastest qualifying lap was a 1:27.059 (93.371 mph), which he set on his eighth circuit around the 2.258-mile, 13-turn course. In fact, he needed most of the 20-minute qualifying session to get the car to turn its top time. Sweedler will share driving duties with teammate Romeo Kapudija, of South Barrington, Ill.
"The Alex Job team always puts together a great car," Sweedler said. "We struggled a little bit with our setup. We did the best we could out there. Qualifying is qualifying. Now we've got to focus on the race.
"For Romeo and I, it's all about being consistent. In this series, that's the key - no mistakes. In the last three races it's been unfortunate, we've been hit from behind, taken out. We've lost anywhere from a lap to 20 laps. In this race, we must be clean and error free. The team always does an amazing job. That's not where we're concerned. We just need to make sure we do our part this time."
"We're going to start fifth tomorrow," Team Owner Alex Job said. "It's a two hour and 45 minute race, so I am fine with that [where the team qualified]. What we need tomorrow is a solid race. The last three races, the [No.] 23 car has been knocked off the track in the first five to seven laps. Now we need just a good solid run and a good result."
