Merchant Services Racing came through the battle on the streets of Baltimore for this week at American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón for the Baltimore Sports Car Challenge presented by SRT. This was the eighth round of the American Le Mans Series championship. The 2-hour charge through the city's Inner Harbor district was as rough and tumble as a sports car race can get. The team was happy to get out of Baltimore with two cars finishing in the top 5.

"This was a battle," noted team principal, Brian Alder. "When the #20 P1 car went into the tires in turn one at the start, it changed the entire complexion of the race. We got hung out as everyone tried to unravel the knot… but it was just the luck of the draw. From that point on, it was purely a street fight."

Driver lineup for this weeks race was Tony Burgess with Kyle Marcelli in the No. 8 Lamex, Butterfield Farms ORECA,finishing 5th, while Lucas and Matt Downs took on the driving duties for the No. 7 sister car, finishing 4th.

"I was extremely pleased with how are guys handled the lack of tempo in this race," Alder continued. "Our drivers and their respective crews handled every situation with accuracy and professionalism. There are some things in racing that are simply out of your control. How your team manages those situations can be the difference between a top-5 and a DNF. Our guys were at the top of their game today. I'm pleased."
