MacNeil and Bleekemolen win GTC at Mosport

BOWMANVILLE, Canada(July 21, 2013) - Cooper MacNeil and Jeroen Bleekemolen won today's running of the American Le Mans Series Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Grand Prix of Mosport in their No. 22 WeatherTech.ca Porsche.

Following two weeks of work by the Alex Job Racing crew to completely build up a new car from an incident at Lime Rock, Bleekemolen (Monte Carlo) and MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill) rewarded the team by being the fastest in three of the four practice sessions, including pole position as well as capping the weekend with a GTC Class win. The win is the second for the team, first was at Sebring, and puts the duo in a tie for the GTC driver points lead.

"It feels great after what happened at Lime Rock," MacNeil said. "The team did a great job to rebuild the WeatherTech.ca Porsche in record time. We came to Mosport and we led every session of the weekend except for one, pole, fastest race lap and the victory. My stint went well. The car was well balanced and I was able to make some passes and hand Jeroen a good car for the rest of the way."

"Fantastic," Bleekemolen said. "It was a hard fought race. Since the caution the first three GTC cars were running very close together. The car ran really well. The strategy was perfect and got us back out into the lead. I just had to keep it out front and out of trouble. Even in the end we had more fuel in the car and our tires were a little older, but we were able to maintain the lead to the end. Fastest race lap, pole position and fastest in every practice but one is a good way to repay the crew for their hard work over the past two weeks."

Alex Job, team owner, had a strong race plan.

"What a weekend," Job said. "It is not often that you are able to put a weekend together like we had here at Mosport. We rebuilt the car, ran fast in practice, put in fast race lap and won the race. The crew did a great job rebuilding the car and Cooper and Jeroen did the job on the track. As good it gets in racing."

The American Le Mans Series will travel to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin for the Orion Energy Systems 245 at Road America, Aug. 9-11.

The power unit featured in the new 911 GT3 Cup is largely identical to the production engine of the 911 GT3 RS with the same output of 450 bhp and the same maximum engine speed of 8,500 rpm.
