PIRELLI-SHOD ASTON MARTIN GAINS THIRD ALMS POLE AT LIME ROCK

LAKEVILLE, Conn., June 30, 2006 Fastest gun in the American Le Mans Series, at least in the GT1 class, again belongs to the Aston Martin Racing team as the #007 car of Darren Turner earned the pole position for tomorrow's New England Grand Prix at Lime Rock Race Park and his first pole in the ALMS.

This marks the third time this ALMS season thatthe Astons have qualified on t he pole one each by Turner's teammate Tomas Enge and by Pedro Lamy in the #009 car. Lamy smashed the qualifying record at the 12 Hours of Sebring in the ALMS season opener. Aston Martin Racing, in fact, has qualified 1-2 in front of the dominant factory Corvettes in both of the classic endurance races (Sebring and Le Mans) this season.

The Astons have also had the fastest laps at three of the races: Enge at Sebring and Le Mans and Lamy at MidOhio.

Now the challenge is to repeat the performance in race conditions. "None of the four of us have ever seen the Lime Rock circuit before," commented Turner. "In the first practice it was definitely daunting and when I came in I asked the guys if they were as scared as I was! But after getting a fresh set of Pirellis and a few tweaks to the set up, I quite enjoyed the track. Staying on course and out of trouble will be the key to success in the race."

The 2 hours and 45 minutes New England Grand Prix will begin at 3 p.m. (EDT) on Saturday, July 1. CBS Sports will broadcast the race tape delayed beginning at 4 p.m. (EDT) on Sunday, July 2. ALMS Radio Web will have live coverage online at www.americanlemans.com. In addition, all ALMS races will again be televised in Europe in an arrangement between the series and MotorsTV, a European channel dedicated to motorsports.
