Cosmo ready for Lime Rock Park
(Lakeville, CT) 30 June 05--Guy Cosmo will return to the cockpit of the Mazda-powered B-K Motorsports Sportsbook.com Courage for round four of the American Le Mans Series this weekend at Lime Rock Park for Monday's New England Grand Prix. In their last time out, making just their second start in the Mazda-Courage combination, Cosmo won the LMP2 class in the last American Le Mans race at Mid-Ohio with co-driver Jamie Bach and the pair are hoping to return to the podium this weekend on Lime Rock's 1.53-mile natural road course.
The track, billed as the 'Road Racing Center of the East," is a lightning-quick 1.53-mile track that has been holding races of all forms since 1957 and has two signature features with the 'Downhill' corner and the long double-apex 'Big Bend' corner at the end of the short front stretch. Cosmo has raced at the track before, but not since he was piloting a Formula Ford Continental on his way up the motorsports ladder.
"I haven't raced at Lime Rock for quite a long time, and certainly not in anything as powerful as the Mazda, so I am looking forward to being there again," said Cosmo. "The downhill is one of my favorite corners in racing, period. It requires a lot of commitment, and is key to getting a good run through the only real straightaway at the track."
The weekend will feature an unusual schedule, as the local laws prevent the track from hosting a race on Sunday, setting the race up for a Monday afternoon run. Sunday will instead be an opportunity for the fans to get up close and personal with the hi-tech American Le Mans machinery for the Lime Rock Park "Open House."
"It is a different feeling to this event because of having Sunday off, but its great that we use that day to let the fans get autographs and check out our cars," said Cosmo. "This track is very tight, and traffic is going to be an issue the whole time, so hopefully we can get our car qualified well and set up to be good in the traffic, because we just aren't going to be able to avoid it all day. The team has been working on the car since Mid-Ohio, so hopefully we will be even better this weekend at Lime Rock."
The race will be carried Live on Speed Channel on July 4th beginning at 3:00 PM.
