ACEMCO Motorsports Qualifies Third in GT1 at Lime Rock

Lime Rock, Connecticut -- ACEMCO Motorsports will start their number 63 Saleen S7-R from third position in GT1 for Monday's running of the American Le Mans Series New England Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park.

The ACEMCO crew worked feverishly in yesterday and today's practice tuning the suspension of the Saleen to get it agreeable over the bumps of the Connecticut circuit. Driver Terry Borcheller was able to turn a qualifying lap of 51.148 with an average speed of 108 mph, putting him in the second row of the GT1 grid.

"We have issues getting the car fast over the bumps," said Borcheller. "The car wants more spring, but then it is unruly in the braking zone. Both Johnny and I have spun today as a result. The track just seems to have moved around a lot since last year. Third is about all we had today, we will hope for some breaks on Monday and the team will have to be on top of the race strategy." Borcheller is teamed with Johnny Mowlem for the July 4th two-hour and forty-five minute race.

"We have been struggling with the bumps," said team owner Jeff Giangrande. "The track has really changed since last year. The car bounces fairly violently especially in the braking zone at turn one, the most critical part of the circuit. The drivers are relaying the information on the car and the crew is giving it all the fixes we have, we just have to be careful not to go too far. I am pleased with third, the Corvette times are fast."

The Lime Rock Park race will be televised live the Speed Channel starting at 3:00 EST on Monday, July 4th.
