Jan Charouz finished 5th in LMP2 class at Sao Paulo

After many problems finished the ADR-Delta team 5th in the LMP2 category. The crew was made of John Martin, Tor Graves and Jan Charouz, who was actually fighting for the position at the end of the race with Vitantonio Liuzzi.

Team ADR-Delta started the six-hour endurance race in Sao Paulo from 2nd place in LMP2 category. The team strategy from Silverstone was not changed, so in the car sat at the beginning John Martin, who also did the qualifying time. Right at the beginning of the race, the British team had a problem with its prototype. When overtaking a slower car, it was damaged the front of the car, therefore the prototype Oreca 03 - Nissan had to be repaired in the box, which took quite a lot of time. After the obligatory pit-stop, the team had another technical problem with a loose wheel and John was for once out of the track. The repair took other long minutes. Our crew therefore lost right at the beginning a lot of time. Unfortunately, during the race Tor Graves also get a penalty for crossing the line at the entrance to the pits.

Jan Charouz, as well as in the UK got behind the wheel at the end of the race. He had to fight in a direct duel with former Formula 1 driver Vitantonio Liuzzi on the Lotus car. The drivers demonstrated a very nice and balanced battle, when they switched their positions several times. The Czech driver finally overtook Vitantonio and managed to finish in front of him with a gap of thirty-eight seconds.

Jan Charouz: "I think we could fight for the podium and maybe for a victory. We were not missing any speed in Brazil. It's a shame, but that's motorsport. Unfortunately we could not do anything about it. I have enjoyed the fight with Liuzzi at the end of the race, but I also had to think that the fuel must last me till the end of the race, which happened. I am happy about my and team’s performance."
