FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Sept. 1, 2000) -- The premier road racing series in the world will return to Texas Motor Speedway on March 1-4, 2001 for the second Grand Prix of Texas. The event will be the first event of the year for both the speedway and the American Le Mans Series.

"We think this is the perfect way to kick off the greatest single race season ever at Texas Motor Speedway," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "These are the most exotic, expensive race cars that our fans will ever see here. We're happy to be the new home for first-class road racing here in Texas."

"We are really enthused about the new road course," said ALMS founder Don Panoz. "The speedway and this market are a perfect match for our series, teams, sponsors and manufacturers. We're very pleased to be starting our 2001 season back here at Texas."

The complete 2001 ALMS schedule, along with the support series for the Grand Prix of Texas, will be announced Sept. 30 during the Petit Le Mans event at Road Atlanta.
