'From The Fans' Award Nominating Process Now Open For American Le Mans Series Fans

Braselton, GA - Nominations are now being accepted from fans of the American Le Mans Series for the professional sports car racing series' prestigious "From the Fans" award for 2004.

The "From the Fans" award is presented each year to the person or group who is felt by fans of the series to have made the greatest contribution to sports car racing over the past year. Among former recipients are team owner Rob Dyson, Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich of Audi Sport; Gary Claudio of General Motors and Dr. Don Panoz, Founder of the American Le Mans Series. Drivers are not eligible to receive the "From the Fans" award.

Voting for the "From the Fans" award will be in two segments. The first round will run until September 27 and will be for nominations, with the top five nominees then listed on a ballot for a second round of voting. The second round of voting will be done through www.americanlemans.com, the official website of the ALMS, and will continue through the conclusion of the season-ending event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., on Oct. 16.

The name of the award recipient will be announced at the ALMS awards banquet in Monterey, Calif., on Oct. 17.

Fans wishing to nominate a person or group for the "From the Fans" award can send an email with the name of the person, along with a brief explanation of why they are nominating the person, to fromthefans@americanlemans.com.

The next race for the American Le Mans Series will be Chevy presents Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga., Sep. 22-25.
