SEBRING, FL, Wednesday, February 8: The Extreme Speed Motorsports topped the timesheets in today’s American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón Winter Test session – recording the fastest overall time of the day and finishing the afternoon session 1-2.

Scott Sharp and Johannes van Overbeek co-drivers of the No. 01 Tequila Patrón Ferrari 458 Italia GT, were the fastest team of the afternoon with a best lap time of 2:01.401 (109.719 mph) – also the fastest time of the day.

Piloting the No. 02 Tequila Patrón Ferrari 458 Italia GT, Ed Brown and Guy Cosmo were right behind their ESM teammates with a lap time of 2:01.544 (109.590 mph) in the second session.

ESM’s top performance on Wednesday is a positive sign as it enters the 2012 Championship after a busy off-season filled with research, development, and support from Ferrari and Michelotto.

The 2012 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón Sebring Winter Test continues on Thursday, February 9, at Sebring International Raceway. The Extreme Speed Motorsports Ferraris are back on track at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Spectator tickets are $10 per day and available at www.sebringraceway.com.

Scott Sharp
“It was a very successful first day for ESM and Patrón.

"We’ve worked really hard on the cars since we left Petit last year.

"We’ve been working non-stop and to come out the first day and be 1-2, it can’t get any better than that.

"But at the same time, we know the level of competition. It is a great start and we’re going to keep working hard.”

Johannes van Overbeek
“Our winter test at Sebring has been terrific. I hope every session this year ends as it did today. We finished 1-2 at the end of the day. This is really a culmination of the team working hard in the off-season and really coming together and never letting up.

"They’ve been working hard from the end of Petit and their hard work shows today. I’m happy for the team and that we’re seeing some success from their hard work in the off-season. I can’t wait for the 12 hour race after what we saw today.”

Ed Brown
“I think it ended up being a pretty good test in the afternoon. This car is so different than the GRAND-AM car; it’s kind of like riding a donkey versus a brahma bull. It took me some time to get back into the swing of this car, but I think the cars are good. Being P1 and P2 at the end of the day, I think the team is ready. They’ll get some time in tomorrow and we’ll come back and finish of the test. We’ll be ready to race.”

Guy Cosmo
“We’ve done a lot of work on these cars during the off-season to make improvements and some updates that we got from Ferrari and some rules changes for the GT category. The 01 car was focusing mostly on what was happening with all the new developments. Ed did a phenomenal job today. He really made some headway and broke through to a new level, so we’re really enthusiastic about his performance. Towards the end of the day, I hopped in and spent a little time making some changes. We’ve shown, as the car was set-up from last season, it is still very competitive. The 01 was quickest at the end of the day, we were right behind them and we were 1 and 2 to finish off the day."
