BOWMANVILLE, ONT (July 20, 2013) – The DeltaWing Racing Cars team started the day with a bang, clocking a time of 1:10.256 in morning practice at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park that put them in second place overall and second spot in the P1 class. The team changed engines between practice and the afternoon sessions and terrific work by the mechanics saw the get car back on track in time for qualifying. The DeltaWing will start third in P1 for the Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix, race five of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón.

Drivers Andy Meyrick and Katherine Legge were encouraged by the speed and handling the DeltaWing showed in the morning session and look forward to more of the same in tomorrow’s race.

“The guys did an amazing job to change the engine in between sessions. For us to get out in time to run in qualifying was a testament to their hard work and they should be congratulated. We showed very strong pace in practice this morning and to finish P2 was very good. If you told us at the start of the weekend that we would qualify seventh, we’d have been quite happy. We’re close to the pace we want to be, so that’s a really good job.

“It’s such an awesome circuit, so to come here and be bang on the pace is great. We’re making a progression with the car that is making it easier for me to drive. We made a big progress last race between qualifying and warm up so hopefully we can do that again! We’ll tweak the chassis and find a good race package.”

Katherine Legge
“We’re taking the positives from the day, which is the speed we had in practice. We had to do an engine change which meant we were at a disadvantage going into qualifying, but we battled back and will start seventh, so that’s good. It is a development project and we learn something every time we go out – we tried a new engine, we tried different set ups. We know where we have time, so we’ll look at everything overnight and make changes in the car to go even quicker tomorrow. I’m looking forward to the guys putting everything together and warming up with the best package we have and going out to race!”
