PRIMAT CONFIRMED AT CREATION FOR PETIT LE MANS AND LAGUNA SECA
British sportscar racing team, Creation Autosportif, have confirmed Jamie Campbell-Walter (GB), Nicolas Minassian (F), and Harold Primat (CH) as their definitive driver line-up for the final two rounds of the American Le Mans Series at Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca.
With Primat's regular team, Swiss Spirit, having now concluded their season, Team Principal, Ian Bickerton, was delighted to have Harold join the squad: "Nic was always going to head up our driver line up, of course, but there were a number of options open to us for the other places. Harold tested for us in Istanbul at the end of last November and did really well, and we've been trying to find a way to work together since. So the final two races of the ALMS are perfectly timed from that point of view. As for Jamie, he did a solid job for us at Le Mans this year and drove superbly at Donington a month ago when we fielded our new second car, so he's earned his place on merit.
"It's a great advantage to have all three drivers who know the US tracks and who are experienced in racing an LMP car, and I am confident that Harold will fit in very well and help us to finish these races at the front of the field."
The Minassian/Campbell-Walter partnership is, of course, not new to the American Le Mans Series. The duo took part in the final two races of the 2004 season, claiming a front row start for Petit Le Mans and a sensational pole position at Laguna Seca -- success they will be aiming to replicate in 2006. Unfortunately, engine/water pump problems prevented Creation's "Blue Rocket" from finishing both races.
For Swiss driver, Harold Primat, the opportunity to drive with Minassian -- someone he always admired throughout his career - is too good an opportunity to miss. "I'm very much looking forward to going to the States with Creation for a number of different reasons. One is that I started my racing career there in 1999 [in the US F2000 Series] so I know a lot of people in America and they have known me from the very beginning of my racing. Also, from my early days in racing, Nicolas was one of the people I looked up to as an example of how to be a professional racing driver. He was the top guy in British F3 and in F3000 and I have followed whatever he has done in his career. So, now, to do these races with him and Creation is a great opportunity for me."
Primat will remain with Creation for both the Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca races.
