Long Beach, California – April 13th, 2012 – After leading the morning practice under wet conditions at the Tequila Patron American Le Mans Series at Long Beach, the Conquest Endurance team had high hopes for qualifying but the session was cancelled due to rain and the grid will now be set by championship points. Due to their podium finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring, David Heinemeier Hansson and Martin Plowman will line up third on the LMP2 starting grid for Saturday’s race.

The Conquest Endurance squad began the day on a high note after finishing quickest in the LMP2 class and third overall in a very wet morning session. First out during the practice was Heinemeier Hansson who did his first laps ever around a temporary street course and immediately set a quick pace in the slippery wet conditions. Plowman then took over and put the #37 Conquest machine at the top of the charts in the closing minutes of the session.

Heinemeier Hansson will be behind the wheel of the #37 Morgan car tomorrow when the green flag drops for the two-hour race. He will do his first ever stint in a street course and then hand over the controls to Plowman who will shoot for another podium finish in ALMS.

The green flag for the Tequila Patron American Le Mans Series at Long Beach will drop Saturday at 4:30pm (Pacific Time) and the race will be broadcasted live on ESPN2 and streamed live on ESPN3 in the USA and www.alms.com for international viewers.

Martin Plowman Driver

  1. 37 Conquest Endurance / Morgan / Nissan “It’s a shame that we didn’t get to qualify today as I felt that our set up was very strong and we could have challenged for the overall pole in the wet. Tomorrow should be dry so today’s performance is irrelevant. David hasn’t run here in the dry so he is literally jumping in at the deep end but he’s a fast learner and I have a lot of faith in him. Tomorrow’s race will come down to strategy and who can stretch the mileage to a one stop race, so we’ll do our best to try to take the victory.”

David Heinemeier Hansson Driver

  1. 37 Conquest Endurance / Morgan / Nissan “The good thing is we are all on the same boat, nobody got a lot of running time in our class or any other, but its still a big task. I’ve never started a race with this little on track time on a brand new circuit before, but I’m glad I did a lot of laps in the simulator so I know which way the track turns. I also know the car pretty well coming off Sebring, so considering that I’m hopeful that we wont be in too bad a shape for the start tomorrow.”
