Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada – July 21, 2012 – The Conquest Endurance team will start on the Pole Position for the Mobil 1 Presents the Mosport Grand Prix this Sunday after a dominant P2 class qualifying session. Martin Plowman got behind the wheel of the #37 Conquest machine and turned a lap of 1m08.853s which put him an impressive 0.57s ahead of the second place car. It is the first Pole Position for both the team and Plowman in the American Le Mans Series Presented by Tequila Patron, and it comes in only their fifth ever race in the series.

The weekend started on a high note after Plowman and teammate David Heinemeier Hansson were the overall leaders during Friday’s testing session at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park track. During Saturday’s two official practice sessions the rookie drivers continued to show their speed and worked with the Conquest engineers to develop the setup on their Morgan-Nissan chassis as they prepare for Sunday’s 2h45min race.

The Conquest duo are in search of their first win in the series after scoring three consecutive runner-up finishes in the last three races. They will be back on track Sunday morning at 9:10 AM for the warm-up session which will be the last opportunity to make adjustments to their chassis before they line up on the grid race. Heinemeier Hansson will be in charge of taking the green flag and will then hand over the controls to Plowey who will be responsible for guiding the #37 prototype to the finish.

I’m very happy with our result! It’s not just the Pole Position but the way the whole weekend has gone for us, we’ve shown how strong the Conquest Endurance team is. The team gave me a great car for qualifying, it’s amazing when you are in the sweet spot you can just keep asking more and more from the car and it gives it to you. When you are going around the track it’s almost like an out of body experience, everything just seemed easy and when I crossed the finish line and looked at my lap time I couldn’t believe that we had gone so fast.

We’ve been knocking on the door for the last few races and I feel confident that we can get the job done tomorrow, we just need to make sure that we stay focused and don’t make mistakes and the win should be ours.”

“Starting on pole tomorrow feels great! This is obviously a very fast track, it is not the easiest track to pass on so just having that position is going to help us get away once the green flag waves. We have an incredibly solid car, the last few tweaks that we made really put it in that perfect window. So hopefully that will stay true tomorrow and we’ll be on our way to a great race!”

“The team has done a great job all weekend, we rolled of the truck yesterday and immediately went fast. Even though its only our fifth race in the ALMS, we have been able to quickly adapt and in the last few races we have been knocking on the door for our first win. We are getting stronger every weekend, we have a solid pair of drivers and a great crew and we have a strong shot at taking the checkered flag tomorrow.”
