Alton, Virginia – September 14th, 2012 – The Conquest Endurance team will start on pole this weekend at the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron VIR 240 after a dominant qualifying session in which Martin Plowman turned the quickest lap in the P2 category with a time of 1m38.043s.
This result marks the third that time this year that Plowman and teammate David Heinemeier Hansson start from the top of the P2 grid, and it sets the scene for another Conquest victory as the driver pair has won the previous two races that they started from pole. Heinemeier Hansson and Plowman are looking to sneak back into the championship fight as they trail the Level 5 team by 12 points with two rounds remaining in the 2012 season.
At the beginning of the weekend the Conquest team struggled with the balance of their #37 Morgan-Nissan chassis at the VIR track which was new to the whole crew, but the team’s drivers and engineers focused on adjusting the setup on their car and by qualifying they managed to come out on top by more than four tenths over their nearest competitor.
Heinemeier Hansson will be behind the wheel of the #37 machine when the green flag drops for Saturday’s race. He will focus on extending his lead before turning the controls over to Plowman who will be in charge of finishing the second half of the four-hour race, and will look to take the team’s third victory in their maiden ALMS season.
The green flag for the VIR 240 will drop Saturday at 2:30 pm EDT, you can watch it streaming live on ESPN3 and XBOX360 and tape delayed on ESPN 2 at 5:00pm EDT.

“It feels great to have pole position, the car just came alive in qualifying. We were very nervous going in to the session not knowing wether we had the right balance. We threw some things at the car to get the balance back and it worked. I felt like I was one with the car and I was really able to put some good laps together. The team’s done a great job and now it’s my turn and David’s to go get another win tomorrow.”

"It’s all the sweeter to take pole when you have to struggle a little to get it. We had to wander in the wilderness a bit during practice in search for a good setup, but the team found it in time for when it really counted and now we are staring at the front. Can’t ask for better!”
