2002 Children's Wish Foundation Mosport Park race day celebrating their 10th year!
On October 20, 2002, The Children's Wish Foundation, Pfaff Porsche (of Woodbridge), H.J. Pfaff Motors (Newmarket) Mosport Park, Pabst Motorsports, and Doncaster Racing will share a vision - to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience to children suffering from high-risk, life-threatening illnesses, by providing a brief escape from the reality of their lives, and offering a little happiness.
The day will begin at 10 am and run until 4 pm, and will involve the"Wish Kids" having an opportunity to meet professional racecar drivers - like local driver Jeff Pabst (2001 & 2002 competitor in the American LeMans Series and the 2001 Pirelli Porsche Super-Cup) - and ride in real race cars around a world famous track. Lunch is also included, and will be provided by Kentucky Fried Chicken. Traditionally more than 50 families (almost 200 people in total) participate each year, but as the event is in its 10th year, the turnout is expected to be better than ever.
The race day will start at 10am with the children and their families meeting the drivers and learning a bit about the history of Mosport. Questions are welcomed in an effort to help the children understand the excitement of the motorsport world, the basics of race car construction and design, and the importance of the safety precautions taken. An autograph session will also be offered, and then it will be time to"start [the] engines!" While the two hours prior to lunch are reserved for the"Wish Kids," the public is also welcome from 1-- 4 pm in return for a donation to the Children's Wish Foundation.
The Motorsport community is delighted to be able to make a contribution towards helping terminally ill children fulfill a dream. And, on this, the 10th anniversary of this event, would like to extend hearty congratulations to everyone who has been, and continues to be, involved. An extra thank you would also like to be extended to the 5 senior students from Pickering College (Newmarket) who are taking the time out of their weekend to volunteer for this event.
If you wish to help make this day bigger and better, thereby allowing even more children to experience the dream of being a race car driver please contact Jeff Pabst at 905/715-7383 or at email@example.com
