CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - The Audi Prototypes will start fourth and fifth in the two-hour and forty-five minutes American Le Mans Series race at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Emanuele Pirro qualified the number 78 R8R with a time of 1:04.439 with a speed of 125 m.p.h. "I am quite happy with the qualifying result. I had some trouble with the gearbox, I believe I could have been close to pole position. The race will be very interesting because the cars are very close together." Less than a second covers the top six cars.

Allan McNish qualified the 77 Audi with a time of 1:04.563. "The car and the track were better in the afternoon. I made a small mistake, I had a little oversteer onto the banking and I did a half spin. In Audi's favor, the cars have always been very reliable. This track is very hard on car and driver and the competition is very close."

"I think we made the optimum qualifying result with the R8R. Too bad what happened to Allan on the banking and the shifting problem with Pirro. If that did not happen we could have gone faster. Overall we can be happy with the result, we are looking forward to the race tomorrow, but we will have to come from the back."

The Audi Sport R8R Prototypes will give a different look to this made for NASCAR facility in Charlotte at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
