"The earthshaking sound of twenty Can-Am cars coming over the crest of a hill on their pace lap made me want to be involved in racing forever. So it really disturbs me that when I go to races now I see so few of the next generation getting to love motorsport in a personal way.

This is not to say I don't see children at all. Maybe they've all gone karting - there sure are tons of them running around the karting paddocks in their miniature driving suits. But I wonder if there's a difference between Mom and Dad deciding on racing as a sport for their child on the same level as baseball or soccer, and a kid being a non-driving part of a family racing experience."
