CARA Charities Tailgate Party: Sorry, no Escargot
INDIANAPOLIS, IN July 17, 2007 For $4,000 you can eat at the Paddock Club at an F1 race. That will get you a program and some ear plugs, coffee and croissants and a gourmet lunch. For $50.00 you can get fresh off the grill real Mid-American cuisine at the CARA Charities' Second Annual Champ Car Tailgate Party at Road America on Friday, August 10 at 6:00 PM.
Rather than mingling only with other fans who have paid thousands of dollars for a space allocation of 1.5 sqm per person, you will be socializing with drivers, team owners, crew members and sponsors at the famed Elkhart Lake track that many consider among the most picturesque in motorsports.
Part of the Generac Champ Car and American Le Mans race weekend, the evening of food, drink and entertainment will be held in the Road America hospitality paddock. The Champ Car Holmatro Safety Team will be back for a return engagement as the celebrity chefs.
In addition to plenty of great food that does not cost $100 a bite, there will be The Great American Racing Auction with collectables from today's drivers and teams and racing memorabilia from the 1980's and 1990's. Past and present teams and drivers have gone through their closets to mine their rich veins of memories and the items will be on display before the auction.
"Last year was very successful and we raised over $40,000" said Vicki Faivre, president of CARA Charities. "This year the proceeds will benefit CARA Charities, Champ Car Ministries, Salvation Army Grid Kids, the Elkhart Lake First Responders and the Elkhart Lake Volunteer Fire Department. This is a throw back to what racing use to be like where you towed your race car behind your station wagon and in the evening got out the portable grill and shared food and stories with your other racing neighbors in the paddock."
Tickets can be ordered from the CARA office at (317) 299-2277. Tickets are $50.00 for adults and $10.00 for children under 12. While fancy European champagne may not be flowing, there will be the champagne of beers.
Entering their second quarter century of giving, CARA is a leading motorsports charity that has donated more than $4 million dollars to dozens of philanthropic causes helping children, hospitals, scholarships funds, ministries and numerous charity foundations.
