BMW Team PTG is fourth, sixth and seventh on the provisional grid for Sunday's race. Brian Cunningham, co-driving with Nic Jonsson, was the fastest team qualifier on Friday, with a time of one minute, 28.555 seconds in the #10 BMW M3. Peter Cunningham qualified the new #6 M3 sixth in 1:28.812. His co- driver is Johannes van Overbeek. And Hans Stuck, testing a new tire compound, qualified the #7 M3 seventh (1:28.979). He'll share driving duty with Boris Said this weekend.

"Something broke on the left front suspension, and that was forcing the brake caliper pistons back into the caliper. When I'd go for the brakes, I didn't have 100 per cent braking so that threw us for a loop for a moment. We were able to turn a decent time, but then we ran out of gas on the fast lap. But we'll be there tomorrow."

"We tried a different tire, but it didn't give us the advantage we hoped for, so we have to try tomorrow. Not every day is Sunday!"

"The guys did a great job, and the number 10 car was set up exactly the way we had to have it for that lap. The crew put me out in a great place with no traffic, so I didn't have to worry that someone would overtake me or dive-bomb me or be slow in front of me. I could concentrate on my lap. I just drove as hard as I could and remembered everything that Hans [Stuck] and PD [Peter Cunningham] told me. We got as much out of the car as we could."

"Laguna Seca presents us with some unique challenges. It's a high-grip surface, but it's a rounded-texture surface. So finding the right tire compound to go fast, and go fast for a full fuel stint, is challenging. We tried something in qualifying, but it didn't work as well as planned, so we'll go back to what we know for tomorrow."
