BAR1 Motorsports began their assault on the 2013 American Le Mans Series Prototype Challenge Championship this past week at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida. The team put two cars through their paces, rotating several drivers and meeting with other potential candidates to join the team's second year effort.
Several potential driver candidates were on hand, including some familiar faces. Driver announcements and lineups will be made at the appropriate time.
"This was a very productive two-days," said team owner, Brian Alder. "We got a lot accomplished and most important, we picked up a full second over last year's class pole time. I expect other teams will pick up time over the winter too, but we're encouraged with our progress."
"We're very focused on getting full-time drivers in both cars for 2013," Alder noted. "We feel having solid pairs in both cars, along with strong alternates for the longer events, will free up crews and mechanics to spend less time adjusting for different drivers and put emphasis on our proven reliability."
"The drivers we are talking to are all top tier candidates," note Alder. "I'm hopeful we'll be able to announce our full line-up sometime after the first of the year and have everyone in place when we're back here for the annual Winter Test."
BAR1 Motorsport's next event is the season-opening Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway on Saturday, March 16, 2013.
