DTM: 117,000 spectators (throughout the weekend) at the Nurburgring witnessed another impressive showing of the Audi A4 DTM. After starting from pole position, Audi driver Martin Tomczyk continued setting the pace throughout the 43-lap race to celebrate his second consecutive DTM victory. His team-mate Mattias Ekstrom impressively fought to make up ground from tenth place on the grid to a third-place finish, thus defending his lead in the standings. Timo Scheider in fourth place and Tom Kristensen in eighth completed Audi's triumph in the Eifel, which saw all four 2007-spec Audi A4 DTM cars fielded by Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline finish in the points.

Audi clinches title prematurely

ALMS: In the tenth race of the American Le Mans Series on the new street circuit in Detroit, Audi demonstrated their impressive performance of modern diesel engine technology. The Audi R10 TDI of Emanuele Pirro and Marco Werner was in the lead until four laps before the end of the 2:45 hours of the race. In an exciting battle it was beaten by a lighter Porsche of the LM P2 category by only 5.9 seconds. Dindo Capello and Allan McNish in the "sister" Audi completed an excellent team performance with third place overall and second in LM P1. With that Audi celebrated the 20th consecutive victory in the LM P1 category, the "king class" of the Le Mans prototypes and secured two races before the end of the season the Manufacturers title for the eighth time.
