R15 plus wins on its race debut

LMS: The Audi R15 TDI, model year 2010 (internally labeled "R15 plus") has won its race debut at Le Castellet (France) and in doing so left an extremely strong impression. The technically further developed diesel racing sports car ran the entire distance without the smallest problem during the test race. After eight hours Dindo Capello and Allan McNish held a five-lap lead over the Lola-Aston Martin of defending champion Stefan Mucke, Harold Primat and Adrian Fernandez.

Second place at Oschersleben ...

ADAC GT Masters: The spectators at Oschersleben and, for the first time ever, live in front of the television screens witnessed a spectacular ADAC GT Masters opening weekend. Both races were dominated by hard duels and many overtaking moves. Spearhead among the Audi R8 LMS cars was Abt Sportsline for who Kuba Giermaziak and Jens Klingmann clinched a second place on Sunday. The Pole Promotion team was the best R8 team in Saturday's race with fifth position.

VLN: Phoenix Racing claimed a podium finish in the second round of the VLN endurance championship at the Nurburgring. Frank Stippler, Marcel Fassler and Mike Rockenfeller started from pole position in their Audi R8 LMS and were only beaten after four hours by the overall winner (Manthey Porsche). The new R8 customer team Black Falcon yet again posted a strong performance - Johannes Stuck, Christer Jons and Sean Paul Breslin finished fourth.

... and in the season opener in Belgium

Belcar: In the opening round of the Belcar long-distance series, which is contested by GT3 sports cars this year, the duo Francois Verbist and Bert Longin finished second in an Audi R8 LMS. The local matadors starting for the new W-Racing team were the only team not to be lapped by the victorious Porsche squad after two-and-a-half hours racing around the Circuit Zolder.

United Autosports has signed the 20-year old Briton Matthew Bell as fourth driver for the FIA GT3 European Championship.
