Flying Lizard, Porsche A Winning Combo At Lime Rock
Long, Bergmeister aiming for GT class three-peat

If there is a team and manufacturer that know how to win at Lime Rock Park, it’s Flying Lizard Motorsports and Porsche. Flying Lizard, a perennial GT championship contender in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón, is on a four-race winning streak at the scenic circuit. Porsche, the Series’ most successful marque, has won every GT race at Lime Rock since 2005.

American Porsche factory driver Patrick Long has been part of three victories at the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix – all with Jörg Bergmeister – and has two Lime Rock GT class pole positions driving a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR to his credit. Here are his keys to success at the track.

“The traffic takes the sprint factor out of it for me,” he explains. “It makes it more of a management situation of real race-craft and how to make your passes. It’s demanding on the driver and the car. The traffic is where you make up your ground. The goal is to qualify at the front and have a car that you can pass people even off the racing line where the grip may not be that good. To do that, you need a tire that’s consistent that will get you to the end. We work a lot with Michelin to get a tire that’s really quick over one lap but can endure an hour of flat-out running.

As a side note, Bergmeister has won five straight years at Lime Rock. So you could say that Long + Bergmeister + Flying Lizard + Porsche + Lime Rock = WINNING.
