3rd and 4th place in class qualifying effort for ESM at CTMP

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (July 20, 2013) – The Extreme Speed Motorsports (ESM) team continues its development of the Honda Performance Development (HPD) ARX-03b race cars north of the border for this weekend’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (CTMP), the fifth round of the 2013 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón.
For the Sunday afternoon race, the Florida-based team will start from the third and fourth positions on the P2 grid.
Johannes van Overbeek, co-driver of the No. 02 Tequila Patrón Honda Performance Development (HPD) ARX-03, lapped the 2.459-mile circuit in 1:09.740 and speed of 126.934 miles per hour, qualifying the car in the third position in the P2 class and sixth overall. Ed Brown will drive the first stint in tomorrow’s race while van Overbeek will take the checkered flag.Scott Sharp took to the wheel of the No. 01 Tequila Patrón Honda Performance Development (HPD) ARX-03 during qualifying. Sharp navigated the 10-circuit with a best lap time of 1:10.850 and speed of 124.946 miles per hour, which was quick enough for fourth place on the P2 grid and seventh overall. Co-driver Guy Cosmo will drive the first stint during tomorrow’s race and Sharp will drive for the second half of the race.
The two-hour, 45-minute race is set for noon ET on Sunday, July 21 from the 2.459-mile circuit in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada.
