ALMS 2001 calendar

The controversial 2001 American Le Mans Series calendar was revealed at the Petit Le Mans. The schedule features 13 races around the world, and is supplemented by a further three European dates. The second round, labelled TBA, is expected to take place at either Silverstone, which hosted the first European event this year with great success, or Brands Hatch. The Czech circuit of Brno is also in talks for the date, as is the German circuit of Oschersleben and Italy's Mugello track. "If Silverstone doesn't take it, Brands Hatch will," said organiser John Macdonald.

The Australian round at Adelaide is still listed as provisional, pending approval of the date from the local government. Adelaide will be hosting horse trials around that time, and the race could move to December 9.
