Felipe Massa has had a roller-coaster ride this year; both on and off the track. While rumors were flying that his ride with the Scuderia Ferrari team would this season, the Brazilian continued to keep his demeanor in the public forum.
At ever FIA Formula One event, he cheerfully greeted his fans as if the on and off comments that his career would end never bothered him. Several drivers – both active and inactive – were named as possible replacements.
Ferrari extended his contract by one year. Massa will stay for what will be his eighth-consecutive year with the Italian team. His teammate Fernando Alonso tweeted: "After 8 different teammates. Felipe staying is another example of what I always say; Do not believe anything you read, unless it's official." The Spaniard was commenting on the 8 drivers who were rumored to have the seat instead of Massa.
The Prancing Horse team stated: "Scuderia Ferrari announces it has renewed its contract with the driver Felipe Massa to the end of the 2013 race season.”
At the age of 31, Massa is ready to finish the 2012 season, and looks forward to 2013!
